London is a global capital of literature, media and communication. City St George’s, University of London is situated at its heart. The summer school will be taught by tutors who combine academic expertise with extensive experience in professional journalism, media and writing. Under their guidance, you will work individually and in teams, in studios as well as classrooms, to acquire the skills needed to produce first-rate writing and multi-platform content. London is a city steeped in cultural history. You will be encouraged both to explore and analyse London, both as place and idea. The timetable has been specifically designed also to include content on the history of London—and also to enable you to benefit from your time here to experience one of the world’s great cities.

Hands-on practical experience

At City St George’s, learning means doing.
By the end of the summer school, you should be able to:
• Understand the fundamentals of what makes a successful
podcast
• Apply your broadcast skills in a more effective way
• Understand what makes good professional social media
content

You’ll take part in interactive, skills-based workshops led by
media professionals and university experts, including:
Make a TV programme in our professional studio
Create your own podcast from concept to broadcast
Develop your storytelling voice
Write and edit short features, reviews and creative pieces
Collaborate with international peers on real creative projects.
