Course Description

After this study day the HCA will be able to:-

  • Understand how to collect urine and correctly conduct a pregnancy test at the appropriate time to ensure an accurate result.
  • Understand the menstrual cycle in relation to the contraception methods and how they work.
  • Be enabled to collect information from a woman to give to a practitioner to enable them to make diagnosis and give appropriate treatment in relation to contraception.
  • Have an understanding of the issues related to collecting a sample from an asymptomatic patient for basic screening in a practice setting.

This day does not enable HCA to work alone to conduct pill checks, conduct sexual health screening or give contraception injections to patients.
